Ashok John Alexander
Ashok John Alexander was born in India in 1967. Driven by a desire to share his passion for authentic Indian cuisine, he founded the ASHOK’S Pourquoi pas l’Inde restaurants in 1999. Within just a few years, they became a benchmark in the world of Indian cuisine.
Our Story

Ashok’s – Pourquoi pas l’Inde
Founded in 1999 in Mons under the name “Ashok’s – Pourquoi pas l’Inde,” Ashok’s was born from a strong ambition: to showcase authentic and refined Indian cuisine, designed to be both accessible and resolutely contemporary.

Second Opening
Building on its success, Ashok’s opened a second location in Brussels in 2010, ideally situated near the Embassy of India, marking a decisive milestone in the restaurant’s growth and recognition.

Gault & Millau Guide
In 2013, Ashok’s made its mark on Brussels’ gastronomic history by becoming the first Indian restaurant to be listed in the Gault & Millau Guide — a major distinction, symbolizing excellence, consistency, and culinary high standards.

Best Indian Restaurant
This recognition was confirmed in 2017, when Ashok’s received the award for Best Indian Restaurant in Belgium and Luxembourg from the Delta Guide, definitively cementing its expertise and gastronomic vision.

Festifood Mons & Durbuy
The restaurant’s reputation has also been strengthened through several television appearances, notably on the show Max & Vénus, helping to establish its visibility with the general public.
For three consecutive years, Ashok’s has also shared its culinary universe at renowned food events such as Festifood Mons and Festifood Durbuy, showcasing its expertise to an ever-growing audience.
